View Full Version : Dating your friend's ex-girlfriend/boyfriend?
Okay here is something i was pondering, would you date your friend's ex girlfriend/boyfriend? I had a discussion about this with some friends and all but one said it would be fine. At first i agreed with the majority and thought its just an unwritten rule that you dont date your friend's ex but thinking about it now, its fine and why shouldnt it be? They are no longer together, why should the other care who his/her former partner dates? If my friend started dating my ex i wouldnt mind since we are no longer together. And i would consider dating my friend's ex to granted we hit it off. What is your view?
Cliffs:
1. Would you date your friend's ex? Yes or no and state the reason for your answer.
2. Would you mind if your friend dated your ex? Yes or no and state the reason for your answer.
Discuss. :)

she/ or he can move on if thats the case. or find someone else. if they want to date, find their own friends.. imo! they met b/c of you, so now they can mingle and get to know people on their own b/c of you. respect!

1. I did it back in 2000, but I made sure it was cool with him. They just had a little tryst, but still wanted to make sure it was cool. Both parties were fine with it, so I went and did it.
2. If it was just a quick fling, then I wouldn't mind. But, if it was a long term relationship where I put my all into it then it wouldn't be cool with me.

No - I would not want my friends seconds. I have n problem finding my own so i wouldnt ever want a friends "hand me downs."
No - It wouldnt bother me at all, as long as my friends and I relationship didnt change. If he wants to go after my old women, then thats on him, not me.

hahaha this is soooo funny. i say dgaf. my gf right now is actually my close friend's ex. we've been together for 2.5 years but we've known each other 10 times longer than that. but when they were together, they were only dating for 5 months. and i'm still really close to my close friend. its all about maturity and all that crap. he did not care, i did not care. past is past. if you guys dont care, that just means that either one of them dont have feelings or anything else for each other. as crazy as it sounds for me, that's what i think about it.

ehh i think it depends... If the girl is just a hoe then its whatever. My homie can take my sloppy seconds lol. But if I actually like the girl, then its a whole different story. I wouldn't want to be around her, and especially see her with my close homeboy being happy and shit. Thats fucccked lol

NO
Learned that the hard way back in High School. Started talking to my best friends ex two weeks after they broke up. They originally only "dated" for two weeks but it still felt weird. I STILL can't look at my dude without feeling like Benedict Arnold.

No- its an unwritten law that you never do this. Bros before hoes.
Yes- well this depends really. Depends on how serious you were with the girl. If she was long term/serious relationship, then I'd probably be upset/uncomfortable with the situation. But if she was just a fling I'd probably shrug it off.
Also, all of this depends on how good of a friend your friend is. As in best friends vs. mere acquaintances.

As of now i say no.
I did this a while back and it messed up alot of things with me and my boy. And ultimately made me feel guilty thus causing the relationship with his ex to go nowhere.
Oh well.
My answer: No

it kinda depends. i'm going to say no just because the relationship could have been really serious and it would kill the other person.
good comments. just needed more opinions and it seems like i got what i needed. lol

NO and NO, but I must say that it is quite an akward moment when it does happen. And at the same time you're stuck with the WTF?! mentality. But, thats just my 2 cents.

my girl and i have been going strong for 2.5 years. and my best bud and i are super chill. it didn't mess up anything at all. he's actually on his way to my house to cut my hair. haha and play some cod. it all depends on the person that's all.

Nah that ain't something no man should do. Maybe if it were tears since they broke up but not right after because that's gonna put a strain on ur friendship wit the dude. But do it if u can't stand the dude or u had a falling out with him

I don't care. It depends on the people obviously. If my boy said he didn't want me to then yeah I'd respect him. But if my boys ever wanna date an ex, go for it. We didn't work out, maybe they will. Past is past homie, mature up. Me and my bros have been tight like all our lives tho. Hoes can't break that up.
But that's just me. I don't get awkward feelings like that, but when I do I live for it. Awkward moments are the spice of life...they're awesome lol.
