View Full Version : Steps to be stanced?

i know im not the only one who sees or thinks this. this is what i see, especially with new people in the game...on all kinds of makes and models.

1. drop car low
2. put a rear roof spoiler on
3. put tons of stickers at an angle on the rear window
4. cover any flaws or unpainted front lip with stickers?
5. PROFIT

lol, i see it everywhere.

What i see is
- Bunch of Sticker (sometimes, not even stance stickers) all over the car specially angle in the Rear Window
- Some wheel with meaty ass tires and a drop of spring or whatever and say u need ur fender roll cause u rubs.....

So what exactly are the "official steps" to be stanced?

Shadow Blue
05-20-2011, 07:17 AM
1. Measure for desired width, diameter and offset.
2. Choose wheel that fits desires of step 1. Be sure wheels will clear calipers i.e. a-disk/l-disk/h-disk etc.
3. If desired wheel does not have desired offset or won't clear calipers, puchase spacers for small changes or adapters for larger.
4. If step #3 is utilized, look into upgrading wheel studs...whether they be stronger or extended (ARP). Open-ended lug nuts should be purchased for extended wheel studs.
5. Buy hubcentric rings. If you live in wet weather, do not buy metal.
6. Plan for appropriate tires, which is strongly dependent on step #1.
7. Upgrade suspension to fully threaded coilovers with camber plates for maximum tuning and moar low.
8. If step #7 doesn't include camber plates all the way around, investigate different methods of acheiving camber i.e. camber plates, adjustable control arms or camber kit (camber bolts).
9. Locate fender rolling/pulling shop. Preferrably one that can do paint touch-up if paint cracks.
10. Locate specialty alignment shop.
11. EXECUTE once everything has been planned out!

5. Purchase xxr's that have been done to death on your ef, eg, ek, da, dc, etc.. so you know theyll fit
THEN
6. PROFIT

*edit*I know you mentioned all makes n models, but I think the honda crowd is really latching onto this theory... dont get me wrong I love hondas, but no one likes seeing cookie cutter replicas everywhere

You may not be trolling but my guess is you're a cfc guy who is trying to show that our niche group has a bunch of posers. Yes, there are people who don't know what the hell they're doing. Hell my stance sucks but I don't claim to be anything I'm not. But were at this forum because we all have a common interest so because of that our cars look similar. But that's how I read into this, idk what your real intentions are.

lots of people throwing hella stickers on their car and thinking they are a part of the dope stance pants crew

the stickered up front lip thing needs to go to hell along with the stickered up bike rack with no bike (or a POS bmx bike you found in your garage you've never ridden)

keep it clean

i love this site a lot. everyone helping each other doing what we all love. it's a forum and i can always ask questions and critic. like i said, dont take it the wrong way. like another person said, its almost cookie cutter the way a lot of these new stanced out cars are.

the stickered up bike rack with no bike

A funny thing about racks, You dont always have the bike, surfboard, Kayak or what ever on the rack, unless you like getting your shit stolen becouse you left it on top of your car when you where not gunna use it that day anyhow. ie, mall, school, work.
when i was in hs i had a surf board rack on my car, i got so much greef for showing up to school with the rack on my car but no board. as if i was a poser, Im Not going to leave my board on top of my car all day when im not going surfing.but the rack was a son of a bitch to take off and get back on so it stayed. duh.

I agree that there are a ton of cookie cutter cars on here. Where it comes down to for me is the attitude of the people. Take me for instance. I don't even have rota's. I have drag reps, super cheap wheels. But I never say I'm something I'm not. I don't think I'm the shit. That's where it comes down to for me; the attitude. If you have a cookie cutter stance, don't try and be something you're not. Strive to step your game up and do something different, set a trend.

As far as the stickers go, I only like stickers of things i truly want to rep, like sarapbuhay and WFC. Otherwise I say keep it clean. Hellaflush and Illest stickers are getting old.

That's just my 2cents though.

There are also those who have signed contracts with sponsors stating that decals have to be installed in specific places.

maybe first serious answer?

1) buy car
2) Buy fail width and offset rims
3) Hope it will look hellaflush when dropped
4) got springs
5) not low enough, so then bought coils
6) going on from your fail rim specs, you bought new wheels with a win width and offset
7) pump and roll fenders
8) slam, poke, drop, tuck, dope
9) figure out points where your scraping more then other bits, whip out hammer and a heat gun.
10) bitches acquired.

Hey that's pretty flush on proteges.... lol

I'm over getting mad about it, I don't have a single sticker on my car but the other day I saw a 100% stock camry (1997 I presume) with a fully stickered rear window. All, stance nation, simple clean, illest, canibeat etc etc. I laughed and he follwed me for a bit trying to take pics with his phone. Do I have anything against him? No. But I really wish he'd stop buying $10 stickers and lower his damn car.

That being said, some guys have more money on their back glass than they have in their bullshit cut springs. The scene is watered down, live with it and do it the right way. Then when you find someone that drives something ghetto you can pride yourself on the fact that your car is done right and you haven't cut corners.

Kinda reminds me of a car I seen the other day... had the old school roll call on the door. One of the stickers I spotted was a Greddy that I chose to ask him about... said he had a Greddy turbo timer but the car wasnt even boosted. To each's own I guess.

Stickers can be a cool addition. But they aren't a part of wrong fitment or stance. I think that's what youre getting at, zealous. Legit stance first, then stickers etc. Don't advertise what you don't got.

w4kj4k
05-21-2011, 03:18 PM
To me the stance scene can be good or bad depending on the individual and how they go about it...

Some people like to claim they are stance with all the stickers and "fitment" but really.. its not that impressive haha.

I'm not really digging the massive sticker on the lips these days. Looks gey.

i don't see the rocket science here....IMO if you wanna know the "steps to be stanced", try to figure it out yourself....search around, there's plenty of good examples[wfc approved for instance] for you to look at and make observations about their setups....

SEARCH & READ...stop trying to be spoon fed with the info everytime you're doubtful about something that can be figured out with a little bit of an effort

So as you can tell by my low post count, im new to the forum. Not giving an intro just an opinion. I have been searching and searching and reading and reading numerous threads on multiple forums. And something that i have noticed is that allot of people dont build their cars for them self, they build it for other people and they try way too hard. When you look at someones car you can tell who its been built for. Some people go through numerous sets of wheels and tires before they are even happy with it, others buy 1 set that everyone else likes, throw them on the car with some coils or cut springs and then feel like they are the cool kid on the block now when no heart and effort went into that ride. From what ive noticed this scene as well as any other is about passion and putting your heart into it, its a complete life style. But then again some people have to fail before they can do it right. Just my opinion though.

loll...it is terrible that someone somewhere decided that this would be the perfect name for a set of coilovers.

They have effectively breeded a new batch of wrong fitment fan-boys who have no idea of the work that goes into this setup.

"Are you stanced?" is doomed to become a new term for people using that brand...instead of a die-hard WFC rider.

Every car scene has "fan boys" I agree with most of you though, throwing on wide wheels and getting stickers is pretty lame . I've spent hours and hours working on height/camber that honestly I'm sick of it. That's what it takes for it to look great though .
