Soooo, $300 a decent deal for a 2AZ-FE that needs a bottom end rebuild? Guy says just the bearings, but it may be worth scooping up for a project motor.

Anyone have suggestions for buying adapters? Brand, size, etc.
Adaptec makes really cool adapters, but they're expensive as hell.
Motorsport-tech also makes good adapters.
Personally I like to look around on VWvortex or Nasioc and see if anyone is selling some that suit my needs.
Size depends entirely on what you're trying to fit.

Yup, exactly. you can go all out but honestly the ebay adapters that are hubcentric are just fine too. No need to waste your money on adaptec unless you just want to burn some cash.
mystik
01-19-2012, 04:11 PM
Hayseed, you have an FC too? lol i planned to put those on my FC, but they look so good i wanna put them on the tc. haha. do you have a turbo model?
also...you honestly could just get any adapter as long as its hubcentric. however you could look into project kics adapters but itll cost you somewhere 150-200 per set. but like Hayseed said ebay ones usually work the same.

Nice dude, so you have an s5? I didnt do the swap, bought it that way. Thats why I have issues, P.O. had s5 injectors in an s4 harness with the resistor pack still installed -_- So yeah Idk if thats what caused it but I blew my ecu
mystik
01-20-2012, 04:45 PM
lol, P.O's suck...they all think theyre the best mechanics in the world and when they cant fix the problem they sell the car as is...same issue with my car except the PO decided to remove all the OMP lines and not tell me. luckily 200 miles after i bought it, the car kept going into limp mode and i found out the ECU detected a problem with the OMP and i just put in an Rtek chip and premix. hopefully i didnt ruin my apex seals or housings. good luck finding another s5 n370 ecu...theyre getting rare
ANYWAYS... need more tC's on here lawlz

I dont have a garage of tools, I'm in a beach apartment. I told them to make the tires fit lol they said check the pressure weekly..
lower it? lol I will bag it in a few weeks but for now I need to

So have someone roll the fenders for you. You can hit up a local tuner shop, they may have someone they contact. Craigslist is also a good spot to find someone to roll them.

^ B&Gs are pretty stiff. The springs don't compress as much as a spring setup. The added weight wouldn't affect you as much.

So question to any one who has replaced there axles with, autozone, kragen, o'relly. So my axle went out yesterday and I was gonna buy it from the stealership but for $400+ I said fuck it since there gonna keep going out and offer life time warranty.so i decided to go with the autozone one. So I'm having some vibration as soon as I start to go and then it will fade away at like 20-25mph anyone experience something similar or any vibration at like high rpms and low gear or vise versa?
DTRUONG_112
01-28-2012, 09:18 PM
I have the same problem. Maybe someone can chime in. SO the exact same symptoms happened to me so I decided to replace my axles with the ones from Oreilys. After the replacement, same problems persisted. What was odd was about a week before I go to do the replacement, the vibration stopped. After replacing, the vibration came back. It happens when Im in the lower rpms and once im in the higher range, the vibration goes away.

You guys replaced the passenger side axles right? On the OEM passenger side axle, outer shaft, there is a weight attached. Most aftermarket axles don't come with this counter-weight, it's there for vibrations. I'm pretty sure you can detach the weight from the OEM axle and place it onto the aftermarket one. Me and Mark (fliphmoob) were talking about this the other day. I recently replaced my driver side axle and it does not have the weight on that side. My Passenger is still good, but I know I'll need to do that one soon too.

Joeythejew- I did notice that my bottom motor mount was kind of torn, but I mean I doubt it cause I'm sure I've been riding on it like that for a while and had no vibration but will C I'm gonna replace it pretty soon

Hmmm, that's weird. I haven't taken my car on the highway yet because I want to replace my tranny fluid with the synthetic I bought, but as soon as I do I'll report back. Did you use a reman axle? I used a new Oreilly masterpro select.
HighDef29
01-30-2012, 02:08 PM

01-30-2012, 02:11 PM
Sure thing. I'm willing to bet your problem is the Re-Man is just messed up. I've heard people having to go through 3 or 4 remans just to get a good one, which is why I went with a new one. Also make sure you replenished your transmission fluid to the proper level.

looks nice man. I was browsing some photos on speedhunters and i seen some kid had a sticker that said "I'm not drunk I'm avoiding potholes" thought it was funny today when i swerved around a few in the daylight
anyways. yea I will stick with the worn out old suspension for now and hold out for a month or 2 and get some air susp. I always wanted it so nows the time! cheers..
joeythejew
01-30-2012, 02:22 PM
I have been using the same mechanics for years, they handled all my cars that I ruined..
but anyways, yea they said some of the engine vibration is from worn motor mounts because the lack of suspension..ya dig

Yeah, we added the weight from the oem to the new and it still vibrates. I'm going to check the motor mounts and transmission fluid again just to be safe. I will report my findings on this.

Yea drained and refilled the tranny fluid. I believe for manuel it's 2.7 quarts if im correct I just put 3quarts but left the plug open so once I saw the tranny fluid coming out I new it was full so a lil less then 3qts lol and closed it.

To those of you having axle issues... I do too.
I'm actually going on my third drivers side axle and they all have done it. idk whats up with that. I got a new one from advanced - did it, then i got a passenger side reman from oriely's - does it. Now i have a new one from oriely's for the drivers side - still does it. They all have done it. Just in lower rpms in second gear. If anyone has figured anything more out, other than the counter weight, i would really like to know. Because i know this doesn't necessarily have to deal with the counter weight, in my case anyways, since i had only replaced the driver side with a new one when all began. Do you really think that it would be the motor mount in all our cases??

To give you guys an update on mine, I finished changing the fluid and inspecting everything, took her out for a drive and I have no issues, no vibrations, etc. Oreilly masterpro select new axle, driver side. The only thing can think of is maybe something isn't getting tightened right or maybe your wheel bearings are shot. jack up the car and pull on the Rotor like this / then \ and it it has a lot of wobble the bearings are probably bad.

So yesterday I noticed there was fluid all over my rim so today I checked it out and noticed my CV boot was torn and I just replaced this driver side axle not even a week ago or so. It's a reman so ima c if I can just pay the difference for there so called golden axles(new) and c if it makes a difference. I'm assuming maybe that's y I was getting some vibration cause everything Seemed tightened right and Bearings seem good

Since lowering mine again, on the new Oreilly, I do get a slight vibration at 20-25 MPH. No idea why, but it's not too noticeable. Didn't do it at stock height.

Ever figure out that axle vibration? Mine is doing it too since I lowered the car. 2nd gear 20-25mph then it stops. It's getting annoying, so I might just buy another oem one.

pretty sure all youd need is to roll your fenders and add a tiny amount of camber (or maybe its already enough camber)...stretch tires yes... shouldnt need too much work. when the offset for front gets to around 15, youll need more camber. the back you can probably get away with leaving it on same settings as you have now.

okay that what i figured. we already running camber at about -2 in the front and -4 in the rear. were gonna bring the rear out to about -2. fenders are all already rolled flat and were done to pull.

Do they have a nice drop?
ScikoFaery69

im running the rokkors that pic above i still have like an inch of threads left
How do they ride? Smooth?
ScikoFaery69
03-23-2012, 05:20 PM
i guess never had any better coils to compare too but for the price i think they are good they get the job done
youre never gonna get a "smooth" ride slammed on anything but they arent super bouncy so i suppose thats a plus
i personally want to get better coilovers cuz i feel that i need a higher spring rate for my fitment
They are really good for their price, but when your fender is about 1 inch or 2 away from you your wheel they suck. i hit the top of my wheel lip with fender on bumps and going up driveways
ScikoFaery69
03-23-2012, 06:23 PM
i rub tire on the daily around curves on turns retarded inclines etc lol when i first got the bigger tires it was a constant rub even in a straight line and bumps sounded like a damn skill saw hahaha thats why i raised it so high

Super slow progress, just put on tires on two of them. The wheels still need to be refinished, the faces are decent, might plasti-dip the lip though and run them as-is until I get some funds for refinishing. Didn't think the drop from 18 to 17 was going to be as drastic as it was, and to eliminate the wheel gap it'll be lower more, I don't know if I'll be able to make it out of the driveway after everything's done.

Yes sir that's with the shorter springs on, and all perches back in.
Discounttiredirect.com has the Nankang NSII's for 89 shipped a tire, 215/35/18. 35's do ride a bit harsh, but there is a lot more clearance. The tires aren't too bad, really good life and decent stretch, they are a bit slippery in the rain though.
