View Full Version : What would you do? (winter vehicle LS400)
I bought an LS400 (UCF10) to drive for winter. I was originally going to get it painted and then do some work on it. (Lexus Glacier Frost Mica) but then decided I'd rather spend that money on a bike for next summer.
So I think I'm gonna lower it a bit and put my stock 350Z 18s on it (they have some all season rubber from when I bought the car)
Here's the question;
I've always loved the down and dirty stickered front lips and chalk board hoods, would I be super ghey to do something like that to my LS? I just feel so awkward about it because my original plan for it was just pure class and VIP.
Be honest lol I know many are just gonna say do what ever the shit you want it's a winter car, but that's not the answer I'm looking for!

not to be a dick but u realize the ls400 is rwd which means it sucks for winter lol. i would expect a sti if anything for winter. but to answer ur question if u go for the beater look u can pull off the stickered lip and chalk board hood. if not then vip all the way. u can just keep it looking pretty clean. i would probably vip it out a bit, put it on air, and rock some flush rims for summer and the 350z 18s for winter.

i think you should stick with the vip look, i feel like an ls400 cant really pull off a beater look. Nice wheels, and Low, call it a day

x2 :) Lexus = VIP
I can't drive FWD I throw up when I get in haha. I've always driven RWD summer, winter, whatever. As long as you're use to it you'll never have any issues. ( drove a winter on summer tires once lol)
I agree 100% a lexus needs to stick to vip styling, especially an LS400.
I dunno, still haven't decided. I found some 18" rays victrix that I would really love to grab....

ls400 sucks in the snow haha, keep it clean and simple
heavy boat + RWD= Very fun winter
plus if Canada's winter is anything like last years, I won't even need to store my G...

personally I would love to turn a LS into a beater, but I'm also the type that wants to stand out from the rest. im also currently an owner of a IS300 as my daily driver...
summer tires in chicago winters = fun..lol

Do it bro! I dont think its a problem anyways because it IS a beater!
I'm half considering taping it up and spraying it flat white for this winter.

keep the LS clean and simple
end.
Descriptive lol
Just looking for ideas, I plan to get it sprayed next summer. I just don't feel like putting 10+ hours into prep to spray it and go into winter lol

why would you buy a ls400 just to ruin it and rattlecan it when their are so many other cars to buy for cheaper especially if its just a winter beater. oh wait youre not capable of driving anything other than rwd...
Because I can drive whatever I want.
And who said anything about rattlecans?

I never said you couldnt drive whatever you want and i was being sarcastic when I said you cant drive anything but rwd. You can do whatever you want, seriously. Im just sayin that if it was my money I would choose something other than an ls400 for a winter beater. If you do get a ls400 I wouldnt do a stickerbombed lip and chalkboard or rusty hood but again, thats just my opinion and I dont want to hate even though most things you do to your car not everyone will love. Do what makes you happy and be yourself (even though you dont want that answer).
haha, no worries dude. I've owned the LS for like 4 months! The winter before last I drove a lowered RWD Cadillac with summer tires and I still made through, this thing is a winter machine.
I have no intentions of doing a haggard ass rattlecan job. If I spray it flat white or sticker lip or whatever it's going to be done the right way (prep till I bleed like I do everyday)

if it was me, and i had an ls as a winter car, i would just get coils and some cheap wheels with snow tires...
but i live in colorado and its tough to drive any car in the winter, so in all reality i would just slam it, then go VIP with it, because its a fucking ls

I would just keep it clean.
All the RWD vs AWD talk is nonsense.
Sure AWD is better but there's nothing wrong with RWD. Seeing as I drove nothing but V8 Mustangs before my stage 2 '06 STi I think I have the frame of reference to know.
Its nice to be able to power out of a situation with the rear wheels only.
The only thing I found better with AWD was leaving from a stop. After that its personal preference.

^ we are talking about snow and shit... it does make a big difference. A RWD can easily get squirly in a little bit of rain on the road... all while an AWD Suby (etc) is ripping it through all the gears losing zero tractions.
Keep the LS clean like I said. I love that body style.

Maybe I should have mentioned that 1 of those V8 Mustangs was supercharged with 400 whp/tq. Even through winter no problems.
Shitty tires and/or shitty driver might get squirrely. That's it though.
I've driven RWD all my life, I don't plan to change anytime soon. If it's what you know then you never lose the car, if you're use to AWD you're gonna put a RWD car into a wall because you're just not use to the way it moves.
That LS looks decent with the stickered hood, but we'll see where I'm at with it. I'm putting the stock wheels off my Z on it this year since they have meaty tires on there already.

ive always driven rear wheel drive, and i decided to get a 1g awd talon. it felt so foreign. on the other hand it literally never got stuck and i had that in some very hairy situations. but im not worried about driving around my ls400 in the snow
