    So what's the difference that everyone runs 225/40. Wouldn't that still rub like a mofo on a 18x9.5?

    When the tire gets narrower the sidewall gets smaller. Check tire height charts for comparison. A 255/40 is a hell of alot taller than a 215/40 for comparison.

    totally understand the concept. But how much taller can a 235/40 be than a 225/40. People hate 235/40 but love their 225/40 is there really that big of a difference?
