    Default coilover lockring question.

hey guys, so i got a question...

I have megan coilovers that i bought from Calvin (shoutout to cal for a good price!) and I wanted to know since there is 3 lock rings on the coilover is it ok to take of the one in the middle of the coilover out and have only the top and the very bottom out without having problems in the future?..I'm already low but i wanna go lower lol

**if you look there are 3 lock rings under the coil spring and the 2nd one from the top, underneath the Large lockring, is the one i want to take out is that ok to do?..**

I wouldn't see any problems with taking that one off. Once you take it off just adjust the very bottom one up to take its place.

I would only take it out if you plan on dropping the top one allt he way down to the bottom one. If you just take the middle one out, the top one can move and it will throw off your pre-load and ride-height. From where it looks right now, you could leave them all in and go all the way down and get a couple inches of drop.

Am I the only one who sees no benefit from removing that locking ring from this setup? Unless the middle ring is hitting the lower ring, there would be no reason to remove any of the rings. If the spring was all the way down, and wouldn't go any futher, then it might make sense to remove the locking ring to get the spring to go the distance of the locking ring lower.

If that's the case then you can take the two lower rings out and just go all the way down with the top spring perch. That will lock the coils from going up and down and it will lock in your pre-load.

That's what he's saying... All 3 rings are together right now, so if it's installed right he should have pre-load and the ride height is just maxed out. If you take out the two bottom ring and then lower it down all the way and lock it, the ride height will be locked in as well as the pre-load. (assuming he or the mechanic adjusts it correctly.)

    Looks like some misinformation here.

From what people are saying, they're suggesting lowering the locking that the spring seats on to lower the car. I really hope i'm just misreading this...

I know it's an old thread, but you CAN teach an old dog new tricks lol

There aren't 3 lockrings per say. The ring holding the spring is a perch and the lockring under it secures that.

Do not droop the spring perch at all. Your ride quality will suffer.

If the lower mount/lower mount lockring is touching the lockring under the spring perch and you want to go lower, you want to remove the lower mount lockring. At that point, it doesn't really matter which lockring you remove, just as long as you have something holding the spring perch.

But from the looks of your pictures, you just need to adjust the lower mount higher/closer to the spring perch.
