I have slammed 01 miata and I love it, rides great I get like 35 mpg cruising on the 405, and all parts for it are dirt cheap!
...so you may or may not have seen my car on this forum. i drive a 2006 mazdaspeed 6 on bc coilovers on XD9s. i just bout some 18x9+20 XD9 fixer-uppers in WMB. anyways, on to my issue...
my car is a PITA to 'stance' from what i've gleaned in my 2 years owning it. many mazda guys know Rhoadblock and his car, but i have no where NEAR the amount of funds to get my car to where his is. i know that everyone has to put in the necessary time to make their car a true peice of work, but i'm finding out that my car is in a niche so small that i have issues finding help out here in socal as most ms6 owners are on the east coast. oh and as we all know the speed6 takes premium gas, so i might as well be pumping the gas into my asshole when i go to the pump.
anywho this is where i'm at: the new work rims are going to be fully redone no matter what i end up doing, but in your experience how much would i miss this car if i sold it and picked up a miata? i'm looking into the 1998-2005 range and the benefits are:
-drop top for gorgeous summer days
-better mpg
-smaller (or NO) monthly payments
-no more premium gas
-saving money on gas/payments frees up money to work on the car with.
so to restate what i really want to know: do you love your miata more than you could ever love a speed6?

honest never seen a speed6 slammed or done right.. all ones here in ATL so rice... ...
you can FB him his name is Darin Ford.. he has a nasty or had a nasty miata slammed hard to the ground
They're pretty different cars to be honest.. The Miata is real small, if you can live with how small it is.. It's fine for a daily ride, engine is pretty nice, gearshift is the best I've used, soft top (We don't get to use ours much over here in the UK, always raining!) but over there it'd be worth it.
Only way really is if you can get a test drive in one, see if you like it. Some of my friends have tried my Miata and can't get on with it at all, where as I love it.
I've had my Miata for a little over a year and built it up from completely stock. Its the first car I can honestly say I have modded and IMO was the best choice for me. The parts are relatively cheap (unless you're looking for jdm stuff), on average I get around 28mpg, the suspension seems easier than other cars to work on ( no need for camber plates). There are a few people here in Vegas who have speed 6's and 3's and all I ever hear from them is engine problems and turbo issues. Personally, I would love a Miata over a speed 6. Get a Miata then buy another more comfortable car in case you're tired of driving your roadster.
Miata's are cool and all, but they're a dime a dozen nowadays in the slammed/stance scene. Almost kind of makes me regret buying one, but it's whatever. They're fun little cars, and easy as piss to slam to the ground due to their smaller than normal profile. But at the end of the day, a slammed Speed 6 is both more conventional and a bit rarer......just something to take into consideration. I would offer a trade, but I'm up to my neck in rust repair with this northern car POS I have so I'm sticking with it.......for now.

i would keep the speed 6, because as others have stated, there are not enough done proper and miatas are everywhere. but for cost and ease of finding parts, the miata is perfect.
