Depends if it's still rubbing. If it wears down enough not to rub it'll prolly be alright.
I was just wondering how safe is it to roll on tires that have rubbed on the fender to the point where the name of the tire, size, etc. is rubbed off.

Whenever I have a passenger my fenders basically just sit on the tires and run the entire time. I have passengers pretty frequently and I haven't had any issues to date. It really just depends on how the fenders are making contact with the tires. My fenders are rolled and there is nothing sharp rubbing them.....they are just rubbing on the smooth surface on the inside of the fenders. But I know my friend's STI had a piece that actually used to dig into his tires a little bit.......but even so he never had any issues in the long run either.

you mean like this?? This is what happens when you have more than you're wife and kid in the car at one time.... This only happens on the LR. According to scion, the LR hub sits 1/4" out farther than RR (with no explanation) so the RR sidewall is perfect... I've seen many sidewalls like this around...
I now only rub a very little... not sure cuz I don't drive with more than 1 passenger or cuz it rubbed so much it doesn't rub anymore...![]()

Same thing with my car just not as bad yet, Im 2/3 to the point you are but only on my passenger rear. My guess would be something similar to what you mentioned since I measuerd all 4 coreners at the same height.
But as far as problems Ive gove 9 hours of interstate on it lol so I would say yea they're safe.
I've been running a hella flush setup for a month now and its my first time having all 4 passengers tonight. all 3 of the ones in the back weigh about 100 pounds and fck.
the left side fender was sitting on my sidewalls and when we started driving it was rubbing constantly and all of a sudden we smell a burnt rubber smell and good thing we had a friend with us and so I just had those 3 sit with him.
idk what would have happened though, I looked at my rear fenders and see chunks of rubber hanging off my fender and see that the edge of my fender paint somehow got sanded off.
also how the heck do you guys deal with the rubbing when you guys have passengers?
I do rub when hitting bumps on the freeway but that grew on to me but not when its constantly rubbing and my passengers telling me they smell a burned rubber smell -_-
It's part of the game guys... Look into cheaper tires so your not worrying about literally burning money...
If you still scared raise it up!
Get out the game!

I've been around the world I ain't never seen a girl like that...
To the OP, you'll be fine. I have rubbed off many a letter in my day. No problems to speak of thusfar.
When I have a passenger, I just give them a disclaimer that they are going to hear my tires rub throughout our entire journey. Anyone over like 120lbs will literally make my rear fenders sit on the tires. So taking girls out usually isn't an issue......I mean they will still rub on tiny bumps, turns, etc etc. But my dude friends know better than to ask me for a ride somewhere.......lol.

Rubbing letters and numbers off of the side wall is okay, since they are "extra" rubber added to the sidewall; not the main part of the sidewall's structural integrity. Make sure there are no sharp edges where it is rubbing (like someone on here pointed out). Excessive rubbing (past just wearing off markings on sidewall) WILL start to reduce sidewall structural integrity as the inner fender slowly removes material off of the sidewall. Most of the time rubbing will continue to wear down a particular spot evenly all the way around the sidewall, which WILL weaken the sidewall.
If the fitment is ON POINT, the tire will stop rubbing once the letters are gone; as the suspension compression will be maxed out at this time.
well...I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong
