Re-Barreling question

I have a set of 2pc 17x8 +35 Blitz Type 01 that I want to work on.
I either want to keep them 17" and have them widen to 9 or have them step lip to 18x9.

Though my question is there companies out there that will sell you the stuff to re barrel them yourself or is it a job that professional has to do?

There are companies out there that can rebarrel your wheels, such as wheelflip, memoryfab, and others- that is for sure.
However, because in your case, the Blitz barrels are so rare/not often rebarreled, they will probably make the barrels custom. Because they'll be custom, I highly doubt they'd be able to sent them to you without either needing your wheels as a template, or needing your wheels to put them together.

Wheels like BBS's and O.Z. Racing wheels are very popular, and you can buy aftermarket lips and stuff without going through a wheel refinishing company, but Blitz's are going to be different.

I didn't know re-barreling was so expensive. Might as well by new wheels My husband aquired some staggered 3 piece Work Meisters and he put them on his Soarer. The front wheels are not the right offset/width for the car and it looks funny. There is already a thick ass spacer in the front.....so that's not an option I'm sure putting a bigger tire on the fronts will help a tad bit.....but not much.

Yeah you probably could do it yourself as long as you have the right socket for the multi-piece wheels you have (I think the work wheels use a star-type spline key). I've seen just the lips for sale on the forums sold in pairs and I'm pretty sure one of the company's that offer the service would sell you the lips as long as they were free from liability; just make sure tey have the correct amount of holes. One of the new modified mags also has a feature in it about doing this kind of thing; the article is probably on their site too.

Yeah it is a costly mod; I was quoted a little over a grand to just add an inch to the front and rear lips of my 18" multi-piece wheels. Sometimes you can get away with just adjusting the size of the smaller width wheel and swapping them with the ones in the rear (as long as the current rears would fit the front well).

There is a difference between rebarreling and relipping. The Blitz's that OP mentioned are a 2-piece wheel, whereas your husbands Works are 3-piece. Also, Work is far more popular than Blitz wheels are, and have greater aftermarket support. If he wants to increase the lips up front, which will increase width and lower the offset, that could be done for around $500ish I believe. Contact VR wheels, or wheelflip/memoryfab.

Rotiform can do it too. But keep in mind, if Rotiform does it it'll probably be like a bajillion dollars........lol.

I've contacted rotiform and they said they wouldn't touch my wheels for any price. Wheel flip wants 2100 and vs wheels said they would do it for 3500 because it would be converted to 3pc wheels. I somewhat know type 01 are rare to find in 5x114.3 8" +35. Not many made unless sent to be custom. I might end up keeping them and buying a new set of wheels
